The body of a teenager has been found floating in a drain. The remains were discovered near Jagatpur Metro Station in Delhi, India's capital, on Thursday. A passerby spotted the body in the water and alerted police.

The teenager has not yet been identified but is believed to have been aged between 15 and 17. Officers from Wazirabad police station arrived at the scene with forensic experts.

Divers from Delhi's Boat Club were also called in and managed to retrieve the body from the drain after what was described as a “considerable effort”. A preliminary examination found no apparent injury marks.

The body has now been sent for a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
