Taipei, Nov. 7 (CNA) Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Saturday condemned China for making a false statement undermining the Republic of China's (ROC) sovereignty, saying that the fact that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are not subordinate to each other is something that cannot be changed.

In a press release, MOFA said China's Foreign Ministry issued a joint statement on Friday following talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping (習近平) and Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. The statement included the Central African country's reaffirmation of its adherence to the "One China principle" and what MOFA described as a distortion of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758.

U.N. Resolution 2758, adopted in 1971, does not mention Taiwan and addresses only the issue of China's U.N. representation.
