A Blue Angels pilot has been removed from the elite flight demonstration team for "failing to uphold the standards expected," the U.S. Navy has said.

Marine Corps Major Scott Laux, who flew the No. 6 jet as the team’s opposing solo pilot, will not participate in the squadron’s remaining performance of the 2026 season.

“Blue Angel #6 was removed from the team for failing to uphold the standards expected of members of the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron and will not participate in the team’s remaining performance this season,” the Chief of Naval Air Training public affairs office said in a statement provided to the Pensacola News Journal.

Officials did not immediately make public the specific reason for Laux’s removal or the date he was removed. No disciplinary allegation or flight-safety incident has publicly been identified in connection with Laux’s removal.
