South Korean e-commerce giant Coupang saw estimated customer card payments reach a record 6.2 trillion won ($4.61 billion) in October, surpassing its previous peak set just three months earlier as spending continued to recover from a major personal data breach.
According to retail analytics firm Wiseapp Retail, estimated payments made through credit and debit cards totaled 6.2 trillion won in October, up 5.1 percent from 5.9 trillion won a year earlier.
The figure exceeded the previous record of 6.12 trillion won set in July, suggesting that customer spending on the platform has continued to expand.
Coupang experienced three consecutive months of declining payment volumes following a personal data breach in late November 2025.
However, spending began recovering in March 2026, supported by the company’s fast delivery services and promotional discounts, eventually reaching a new high in October.
Coupang Eats, the company’s food delivery platform, also maintained strong growth.
Estimated payments through Coupang Eats reached 1.18 trillion won in October, up 12.6 percent from 1.05 trillion won a year earlier, outpacing the growth of Coupang’s core e-commerce business.
The figures are based on Wiseapp Retail’s analysis of sampled credit and debit card transactions and do not include payments made through bank transfers, cash or gift certificates.
