Jummie Rahman and her younger brother Zarif are waiting for their father’s body to return home. Their father, Md Anisur Rahman, 52, died in Taiwan on October 31, but his body remains at a hospital there as the family struggles to arrange its repatriation.
The family from Ratil village in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj has one desperate wish: to see Anisur’s face one last time. But they cannot afford the cost of bringing his body home.
Anisur went to Taiwan on a tourist visa on June 22 this year, hoping to repay his debts and support his family. Although his visa expired, he stayed on in search of work.
He fell ill on October 31 and was admitted to a hospital, where he died around 12:15pm while undergoing treatment.
