A restaurant owner has doubled down after a workplace claim brought by an Italian chef who refused to put pineapple on pizzas was dismissed.
Davide Tamburella was dismissed on May 20 after he claimed adding pineapple to pizza was an 'insult to his culture', the Fair Work Commission (FWC) heard.
Two weeks earlier, Mr Tamburella had a meeting with his employer, La Costa Restaurant and Bar in Fortitude Valley, to discuss 'performance concerns', including his refusal to put pineapple on pizza at a function, the commission noted.
